Hutchison: Where there’s smoke, there’s forest mismanagement
The forest fire crisis that Washingtonians have suffered through for weeks is not going away soon and GOP Senate candidate Susan Hutchison cites the extreme environmental policies of three-term incumbent Senator Maria Cantwell for making it worse.
"Cantwell has been in office for 18 years, pushing environmental policies that contribute to large out-of-control wildfires. The ‘Let it Burn” crowd in Seattle have successfully fought forest management on federal lands—a disastrous policy that now affects us all,” said Hutchison.
“These fires pollute our air, destroy forests and wildlife, put firefighters’ lives at risk and cause breathing problems for those who suffer from lung disease. Many of us are now wearing respirator masks to protect our lungs, which is not the way we want to spend our summers.”
The three-term incumbent Senator has issued tweets that say “now is the time to act” and “we need to do so much more.” But in 2015 Cantwell opposed a bi-partisan bill in the Senate that provided forest fire solutions.
"Cantwell’s tweets are empty.” Hutchison said. "Cantwell CAN'T work for real solutions because she is beholden to Seattle extreme environmentalists. But as your Senator I WILL work to promote science-based natural resource protections, including modern and effective forest management.”
“We’ll all benefit from clean air, jobs in rural Washington, and protection of salmon habitat,” Hutchison says.
"We now know that where there’s smoke, there’s mismanagement of forests. For too long, Cantwell and her fellow Seattle liberals have promoted a policy that’s harmed us all," Hutchison says.
